This Sunday – August 13th, 2017

I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me;
let us exalt his name together.
Psalm 34:1-3

This Sunday we have the joy of coming together to “exalt his name together.”

You and I are desiring creatures. We are created by God to find things worthy of our adoration and praise, and to respond to them in worship. But throughout this past week we have been tempted to glory in things other than the Lord. Success. Ourselves. A relationship. Money.

God invites us to come and recalibrate our hearts to the One who is alone deserving of our praise. To again declare that he is our only hope and joy. To see a greater picture of his power, goodness, and glory.

As we do this, we will be changed. The shiny veneer of other objects and idols will grow dull. Our hearts will be filled with wonder. And we will worship the true Source of all good.

I will lead our times of singing and Paul Curtis will preach from Philippians 2.
