Redeemer Weekly – 5/13/2018

Redeemer Weekly: May 13, 2018 — SERVANT SHOUTOUT: Omar

Good morning! Please join us tomorrow morning at 10 am for coffee and donuts at 716 S. Glebe Rd. And happy Mother’s Day to our Redeemer mamas!

REMINDER Children Ministry: Check-in and check-out* will be in the lobby and then you can take your kiddos to their respective classrooms – and NEW! The 2 -3 year olds will be entering their class through the Riddick Hall entrance. So unless a year old, all checked-in kiddos should head to Riddick Hall.

*Parents, for safety and security – your security voucher(s) has to be initialed for your kiddos to be released to you!

TOMORROW in Redeemer CM, a beautiful Mother’s Day lesson about us being God’s children. God is changing believers to be more like Jesus. We are God’s children—freed from sin, given power to do what is right, and adopted into God’s family. Because Jesus died on the cross, God the Father welcomes us and promises a future with Him forever.

TOMORROW, Men’s Group. They will meet in Riddick Hall (promptly ending at 10 am to allow for CM set-up).

MAY WORSHIP/PRAYER NIGHT: Join us NEXT Thursday, May 24 for a time of prayer and worship. We will meet in the sanctuary from 7:30 pm – 9 pm.

FlourishNow Job Fair: We are excited to be supporting FlourishNow (where Redeemer alums, Leah Hughey and Andrew Brown work) in putting on a job fair in May! Check out the FlourishNow website for mission and purpose BUT also check out volunteer opportunities about the May 24, 2018 Job Fair. Their mission is to help with local needs by connecting people to church and job resources. Interested or curious? Grab Gillian – and she will be in the back this Sunday to answer any questions and have flyers you can distribute!

INVITING ALL RELATIONSHIPS: In response to Eric’s sermon series on marriage, Mark and Betsy Teubl are inviting at least 5 couples for each relational stage (dating, engaged, married) to participate in a Redeemer Wide “Couple Check-up” for the month of May (powered by Prepare/Enrich, a well-respected clinical and faith based premarital and marital assessment tool). This is relevant and beneficial for any stage of a relationship, regardless of how great or not so great and everything in-between.

  • Go to www.couplecheckup.com, and add Group Code: 20414 – 2018 at the end so your results can be anonymously added to the summary report we’ll share at the end of May for corporate edification and awareness (see a sample here)
  • If $35 is a participation barrier, if you’d like to pay it forward and sponsor a couple, if you have questions, or if you’d like to loop in a team member, email betsy@livingmatters.com.
  • We’re still forming the marriage mentor team, so if you’re an interested individual/couple (married or not) to explore this opportunity, contact betsy@livingmatters.com for more information about realistic qualifications, structured format, and flexible commitment (closing the 1st team Sunday, May 20 or capping when 10 commit).

SERVANT SHOUTOUT, by Jackie Black; Josh Deckard nomination! Omar came up to me at the retreat and asked how Whit is doing and how he’s adjusting to his diabetes diagnosis. He offered to come over “anytime Whit needs to be encouraged” and spend time with him. Omar is a man of his word and followed up by coming over this week to spend time with Whit and his brothers – which was a huge encouragement to Whit and our entire family. Omar’s selfless and thoughtful act is a reminder that none of us are too young to be an encouragement to others. Omar, thank you for living out Philippians 2:3b and Hebrews 3:13.”

In addition, Omar will jump in and help with CM! He demonstrates a sweet patience and joy with our kiddos – thank YOU!
