Redeemer Weekly: July 22, 2018 — Townhall: Constitutional Changes — Servant Shoutout: Katie and Jeff Martin
Good morning! Please join us tomorrow morning at 10am for coffee and donuts at 716 S. Glebe Rd.
Tomorrow in Children’s Ministry: Finally back in our space, we are in the final lessons of the our three year study of the Bible. Diving into Jude 3-4, 17-25 warns kiddos of how some may false teach but Christ is the Truth, the Way, and the Life.
Tomorrow in the Men’s Group: The men will meet at Carlos Dimas’ home at 8:45am! For further details, please contact Mike Henry.
Tomorrow’s Townhall: Eric will host the first of two townhalls (July 22 & August 5) to answer any questions regarding the proposed constitutional changes presented at the June 26 member meeting. The townhall will be immediately after the service and at the front right of the sanctuary. For those not participating, please be mindful and move to the back so that discussion can be more easily heard.
Redeemer Member Led Event
Redeemer Tennis Open is back! Graym Kasko is organizing this year, which will take place in August-September. ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME TO PLAY. It is going to be set up a little different this year. In honor of the World Cup, we will have random groups of four that will play round robin style, so you have to be committed to playing at least three matches but that will allow everyone to play multiple people instead of getting knocked out in the first round like I was last year. The matches will also be one set, rather than best of three. After the group stage the top one or two players from each group, depending on how many groups we have, will advance to the knockout rounds.
If you are interested in playing, reply to the Facebook post on the Redeemer page. Once we get going, you’ll have a set period of time (a week or maybe two) to plan out the match with your opponent.
Redeemer Service Area Needs:
Audio Team: Still needing technically- and musically-minded and music folks to help out with the Audio and Recording teams: Audio team needs folks who can independently help with the technical operations required in our Sunday morning meetings and monthly Worship and Prayer nights. Recording team serves by editing and posting weekly audio from our various services and meetings. Experience working with and ownership of a digital audio workstation (DAW) is needed. If interested, please email Dave Mugg.
ESL Ministry Fall 2018: The ESL ministry is looking for volunteers for the Fall 2018 semester. English classes are held Mondays 7-9pm and Thursdays 7-8:30pm from September 17 to December 6. We also host a Bible reading class on Thursdays. This is a great way to serve and build relationships with people in our community! There are a lot of different ways to get involved. Here are our needs for the upcoming semester: 6 teachers, 4 teaching assistants, 1 Bible reading class leader, 2 Bible reading class facilitators
If you’d like to learn more about these roles and the ESL ministry, we will be having informational meetings in the church lobby Monday, August 6 and Thursday, August 9 from 7:30 to 8:30pm. Please RSVP here if you plan to attend the informational meeting. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Servant Shoutout by Jackie Black: The spring flood 2018 displaced all teams – including our welcome team! It was delightful to see the Connection Table not competing with sanctuary noise! And always delightful to see serving is Katie and Jeff Martin. This serving duo not only serve on the welcome team, connecting people but also support the finance team with responsibilities for the offering.
Katie and Jeff are gracious in serving, from ushering, to greeting, even leading a small group, and using their artistic and creative gifts with Redeemer’s website and graphics! Thank you, Katie and Jeff for how you warmly and beautifully serve Redeemer!
