Redeemer Weekly: July 29, 2018 — Townhall: Constitutional Changes — Servant Shoutout: Meredith Leal

Good morning! Please join us tomorrow morning at 10am for coffee and donuts at 716 S. Glebe Rd.

Tomorrow in Children’s Ministry: Next week, we will finally have our FINAL move back fully into CM (#allthepraisehands!) – so it is fitting for our kiddos before starting their study on Revelation, 2 Peter 3:1-13 will speak to while we wait for Jesus’ return!

Tomorrow in the Men’s Group: The men will meet at Carlos Dimas’ home at 8:45am. For further details, please contact Mike Henry.

Newcomer Lunch – NEXT Sunday, August 5 – For those new to Redeemer and the area, we invite you to our monthly newcomer lunch immediately following service. If interested in attending, please RSVP to Kelsey Gold.

August 5th Town hall: Eric will host the second of two town halls to answer any questions regarding the proposed constitutional changes presented at the June 26 member meeting. The town hall will be immediately after the service and at the front right of the sanctuary. For those not participating, please be mindful and move to the back so that discussion can be more easily heard.

Redeemer Member Led Event

Tennis is back! Graym Kasko is organizing this year’s Redeemer Open, which will take place in August-September. ALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME TO PLAY. If you are interested in playing (or learning more), email Graym Kasko or reply to the post on the Redeemer’s Facebook page.

Redeemer Service Area Needs:

Audio Team: Still needing technically- and musically-minded and music folks to help out with the Audio and Recording teams. Previous experience is helpful, but not required. If you’re interested in learning more, please email Dave Mugg.

Children Ministry: The largest service team for Redeemer’s largest service area is still look for members to serve for our 2018-2019 year (September – August)! We are excited to start in Genesis and looking for classroom volunteers (no experience required and teacher roles are filled!). If you love kiddos, like them, or are scared of them (and no longer want to be), then this your opportunity to serve! Let Jackie know if ready for the adventure!

ESL Ministry Fall 2018: The ESL ministry is looking for volunteers for the Fall 2018 semester. English classes are held Mondays 7-9pm and Thursdays 7-8:30pm from September 17 to December 6. They also host a Bible reading class on Thursdays. This is a great way to serve and build relationships with people in our community! There are a lot of different ways to get involved. Here are the current volunteer needs for the upcoming semester: 6 teachers, 4 teaching assistants, 1 Bible reading class leader, 2 Bible reading class facilitators.

Informational meetings will be held on Monday, August 6 and Thursday, August 9 for anyone who would like to learn more about these roles and the ESL ministry in general. Meetings will take place in the church lobby from 7:30-8:30pm. Please RSVP here if you plan to attend the informational meeting. If you have any questions, please email redeemeresl@gmail.com.

Servant Shoutout by Jackie Black: In the throes of children’s ministry planning and recruitment, there is a no greater joy than veteran CM volunteers returning! Meredith Leal is one such volunteer!

As the third-week point-person (and solely holding down the CM management fort this week as I skip town for the weekend!), Meredith brings humor, no nonsense, problem solving, positive thinking, and joy to CM. She has handled last-minute changes and various problems on Sunday mornings with patience and independence. She has a ready smile for kids and parents – who would never know if she was solving the CM world problems two seconds earlier. Thank you, Meredith, for being a faithful servant to Redeemer kiddos and families – and thank you for coming back for another year!
