Servant Shoutout by Jackie Black, nomination from Laura Icardi: “When I got to church, the whole children’s ministry area was and dirty… There was dirt and leaves and mulch and other debris all over the floor. I cringed at the thought of visitors showing up and seeing all of that, but I didn’t have time to sweep it myself. I was too busy working out volunteer chaos because of so many people not being able to serve this week. Anyway, I went upstairs and asked Madelyn (Haughery) if she would be willing to sweep for me, making it as clear as I could that she absolutely did not have to, and wasn’t expected to, and it wasn’t part of her job description… Etc.… Julia walked over as I was asking Madelyn, and both girls gladly agreed to help. Gavin also jumped in, offering to vacuum rugs. All three kids came down and worked hard and fast to make it clean and neat. They required no managing at all – they just took up the brooms and vacuum and got it done. They served with such gladness and did such a great job, it really blessed me (and, I would say, the whole church and visitors).”
