Parenting Learning Group Starting in February

Dan and Sena Rogers will be leading a couples’ learning group through Tedd Tripp’s, Shepherding a Child’s Heart. Here’s a note from the Rogers on the group: “Our prayer is that going through this book together will help couples address the various topics together and biblically and that they can come out on the other end as a united front. It not only helps you parent, but also brings you closer together as you can move forward unified in your parenting.” The group will start on the Sunday, February 10 and meet at the Rogers’ house in East Falls Church. Kids are welcome! If you are interested, please contact the Rogers at dansenarogers@hotmail.com.

Winter Coat Drive

Hi Church,

As temperatures drop these days, hopefully we are reminded of how blessed we are to have coats, sweaters, scarves and gloves to keep us warm. In our communities both in Arlington and DC, there are many who don’t enjoy these luxuries, especially come winter time.

That is why this season we are teaming up with Homeless Hope–a local Christian organization managed by individuals who have a passion to support the ministry of serving the neediest people in our area–in organizing a Redeemer coat/sweater collection drive, as well preparing food, toiletries and the coats themselves for distribution on the morning of Sunday, November 18th.

So what can you?

  • You can look in your closets to see if you have any Men’s and Women’s coats, in good condition, that you no longer are using and would like to do donate to those in need around you.
  • You can go thrifting or to your local Salvation Army store and purchase winter coats at a considerable discount–by yourself OR with your community group!
  • You can help organize your friends, families and community groups to donate as a group!
  • You can bring these coats or sweaters to church and place it in the marked box for the next four Sundays (beginning THIS Sunday, October 21st) before and after the service.
  • You can volunteer to prepare and distribute meals, toiletry kits and coats on the morning of Sunday, November 18th (Prep Location: Ballston Crossfit)

Note: The box will be making its way to this year’s Redeemer Retreat, so definitely bring an extra coat to donate if you wish!

Stay tuned for other announcements and opportunities to serve! For any questions or to offer to help please email:

Work Seminars

In October, we are relaunching “dinner groups” with a twist — instead of food and fellowship in the evening at members’ homes, we will be meeting for food and fellowship during lunch in our places of work.

We’ll use our time to discuss how we can grow in following Jesus at work, and as with dinner groups these will be hosted by different members of Redeemer. Please feel free to also invite your coworkers!

Church Gathering in Clarendon Today

Hi church!

Due to the power outage, we will be meeting at First Baptist Church Clarendon for our service today. Below are a few important notes for consideration:

– We will meet as usual at 4:30pm
– The address is 1204 N Highland St., two blocks from Clarendon metro
– Parking is available for free in the lot facing the glass door entrance on the east side of the building
– Children’s ministry will go on as usual; little kids and nursing mothers rooms are on the main floor, big and middle kids rooms will be on the second floor
– We will postpone our after church dinner to next week, July 8

As an added bonus, the building is brand new from renovations so the A/C will be nice and chilly!!!

Thanks for your flexibility during this time.
