What Did You Expect? Marriage Conference

Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, MD is hosting pastor and author Paul Tripp on February 3 and 4, 2012 for a conference on marriage entitled “What Did You Expect? Redeeming the Realities of Marriage.” Dr. Tripp will discuss the beauty of marriage as a reflection of God’s glory as well as the realities of life that threaten to destroy it. The conference is based on Dr. Tripp’s book of the same title. Singles are also encouraged to attend.

Registration is $7.50 per person. The conference starts at 6:30pm on Friday and concludes at 12:30pm on Saturday.

Conference Overview

A marriage of unity, understanding and love is not rooted in romance but in worship. It is only worship of God as Creator, Sovereign, and Savior that will lead us to love as we should. Have you ever wondered why some couples reach a place of unity, love, and understanding in their marriages while other couples seem trapped in the same struggles year, after year, after year? The surrounding culture would lead us to believe that a marriage of unity, love, and understanding is rooted in romance. Scripture would rather say that a good marriage is the result of worship.

Does this confuse you? Then this marriage conference is for you. Learn how practical these insights are for the everyday issues and situations of a real marriage; and, learn the practical steps that will help couples know how to get from where they are, to where God wants them to be.

Update on Book Study: Bloodlines

Dan Rogers and Tim Wilson will be starting their learning group this Sunday, November 27th. They’ll be studying the book by John Piper called Bloodlines: Race, Cross, and the Christian. As we seek to let the gospel inform all of our lives as we live on mission here in Arlington, this question, “Can we build Christian unity in a world where so much of life is divided by race and culture?” is an important one. This book is a great resource as we seek have a Biblical understanding of questions like this.

You can purchase the book here and watch a video documentary about the book topic here.

When: Starts Sunday, Nov 27, 2011 and will meet every other week at 9am.

New Book Study: “Bloodlines”

Dan Rogers and Tim Wilson will be starting a study group Sunday, November 13th. They’ve provided details and the description below.

Given the diversity of Arlington, it is important to consider a Biblical view of race and how that should inform our relationships. John Piper, in his new book, Bloodlines: Race, Cross, and the Christian contributes to the discussion of race like few others–with insight and a hard gaze at the cross.

When: Starts Sunday, Nov 13, 2011 and will meet every other week at 9am.
Where: Rogers Home
Contact Dan Rogers if you have further questions.
