We will be holding registration out in the lobby after the meeting.

Art show hosted by the James’

So Ryan and Jenny James are hosting an art show for their friend, Seth Remsnyder, at their house in Old Town on August 26-28. I wanted to plug this event because I know many of you are artists and I think this would be a great event to go to as well as bring friends to that don’t know Jesus.

Redeemer is built on a core conviction that Community and Mission are not separated but integrated. That the greatest way we can show the power of the gospel is by bringing our friends that do not know Christ into our community, I think this is a great event to do that.

Just a plug, no worries if you can’t.

HarvestShare Benefit Dinner

A few members of our church will be hosting a reception / dinner alongside Save the Children, the Honorable Yohannes Mezgebe, President of Sub-Saharan African Youth, who simply want to do their own small part in the fight against global hunger. If you are in town and available we’d love to have you join us for the reception beginning at 5:30pm, followed by dinner with others who feel this issue has gone on long enough.

What’s great is for less than the cost of a Saturday dinner out, you can do a lot of good helping organizations like Save the Children, further their goal of feeding, rebuilding and recovery in those areas around the world that are most in need. All it takes is a suggested donation of $30. Look forward to seeing you there!

When: August 13, 2011, Saturday, 5:30pm
Where: Roosevelt House, 1215 19th St. NW, Washington DC 20036

Acts Bible Study – Begins August 7

UPDATE: Meeting time is now 11am, not 10 am as previously posted.

Studying the book of Acts brings up questions about the baptism of the Spirit and charismatic gifts, miracles, the economic sharing of the Christian community in Jerusalem, church discipline, the diversity of ministries, Christian conversion, racial prejudice, missionary principles, the cost of Christian unity, motives and methods in evangelism, the call to suffer for Christ, the relationship between the church and the state, and God’s providence. We’ll look at all of these, but the main purpose of this study is to get to know Jesus better. In the book of Acts, Jesus is alive. And he’s alive today. We’ll draw near to him together over the course of this study. Come join us!

Commentary: The Message of Acts by John Stott

Update on Matt Hill

Redeemer community –

Matt Hill has been found alive and unharmed. He left town of his own accord. There are still few questions as to why Matt left. Our brothers and sisters over at Capitol Hill Baptist Church have asked us to continue to shower Matt and his family in prayer. Thank you for rallying around this brother and lifting him up during this difficult time.

Please pray for Matt Hill

Redeemer community,
