Tomorrow in Children’s Ministry (CM): Redeemer kiddos continue to study and hear of the Lord’s work in building His people (Genesis 24) and preparing to answer His promise of salvation. God provided Rebekah as a wife for Isaac as part of His covenant to bless the whole world through Abraham’s family. One day, Jesus would be born into Abraham’s family as the promised Savior.

Race, Grace, and the Church – MONDAY night: This Acts 29 event is a conversation we will carefully consider the vision the Bible gives the church and what it takes to move forward. A particular focus will be given to what the church can do given the history of our country and our present cultural moment. The cost is $10 at Redemption Hill in DC. Speakers include: Thabiti Anyabwile, Curt Allen, Shaun Cross, Moses Lee, Russell Moore, and Eric Simmons. More info and tickets are available here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/race-grace-the-church-tickets-50452317239

REDEEMER FINANCIAL UPDATE FOR SEPTEMBER 2018: We received $1,848 in September, which is 2.98% ABOVE our monthly budgeted giving. This puts us $26,939 (4.83%) above the year’s budgeted giving. Thank you for giving generously to impact the Redeemer community and our mission!

Budget Town Halls and Dec. Member Meeting: Members, our 2019 budget meeting will be on Sunday, December 2. Prior to the meeting, we’ll also have two town halls to discuss the proposed budget on Sundays, November 18 and 25!

ICYMI: Moses Lee had an article published by The Gospel Coalition this week, “The Cruelty of Victim-Blaming and Hope of Redemption”

Servant Shoutout by Jackie Black: We are BACK in our children’s ministry space – but with a learning curve as we share the space with Children’s Weekday Program (CWP)! Our third week CM volunteers took things in stride as we found supplies, learned new classroom set-up, electrical issues with lights – all while having a shortage of volunteers!

This was no small feat to pull off but they did – and that included Travis Shank jumping into teaching the preschool class! Thank you!

I have only heard praise from all about being back in our CM space… the one regret and plug is that we were short volunteers! Which meant we had to turn away kiddos from being in class. Each week faces this problem … Members, we are not at a full roster; and need 10 more volunteers to ease and ensure that classes are not closed due to safety ratios of kiddos to volunteers!

Redeemer Weekly – 8/26/2018

Open and Close Team: We’re looking for 1 or 2 volunteers to join our team of faithful servants who arrive early on Sundays (10am) to set up our space to ensure it is ready and welcoming. Please email Ben Seck if you’re interested!

Servant Shoutout by Jackie Black: Summer at Redeemer has long been called a funny time because of the travels, transition, and general slow crazy part of summers. This would include the frequent missing people on vacation.

Fortunately, for Redeemer, that has not included Caleb Quezada. Rather, Caleb has been serving in various capacities this summer by leading worship, leading his CG, assisting with the CM move, and fulfilling his deacon responsibilities. Caleb released Jordan for his family vacations and preaching responsibilities by leading and ever having an eye on how to grow and improve Redeemer’s music ministry. Thank you, Caleb for how you support Jordan with worship ministry and love Redeemer through serving in various other areas!

If you have questions, contact Jackie Black. Thank you to all who have signed up already!

Servant Shoutout by Jackie Black:

Previous shout-outs have talked about the need and appreciation of the audio team. What makes this team successful for both volunteers and church service is the lead and deacon of Sunday production, Dave Mugg. Dave came to Redeemer and immediately began to serve and enhance our sound team. If in doubt, ask Jordan how much Dave has done to problem solve, and even been known to build whatever is needed. Thank you, Dave for all you give and serve at Redeemer.

SAVE THE DATE, Redeemer Women! Ladies, mark your fall calendar for our first women’s retreat, November 1-3! Details to come but save the date now!

SERVANT SHOUTOUT, by Jackie Black: Last month, we had two major church events – our anniversary picnic (rainy day audible) and last week’s member meeting! Emily Strother and Alanna Ross were key pieces for the execution of both events. Both being on Sundays meant I was out of pocket – so Emily on June 3 and Alanna on June 24 stepped in and handled all questions, coordination, set-up, and clean-up! This was a huge mental relief for me and a blessing to all who participated in the celebration, meeting, and meal! Thank you, Emily and Alanna for serving Redeemer through the event coordination!

SERVANT SHOUTOUT, by Jackie Black: In a surprisingly (sneaky) way, Jordan and I managed to get time off at the same time (beach vs. lake)! And our favorite part is that everything is fine and nothing has burned down!

One of the reasons being because of people like Gillian Springer, who jumped into a mercy ministry role and handled multiple logistics for the upcoming FlourishNOW job fair. While Redeemer is excited to participate, Gillian has been excited and active to participate and coordinate so that those mercy ministry minded are directed, coordinated, and supported in this endeavor we love! From our ESL program to volunteers to social media, Gillian has handled it. Thank YOU, Gillian for carrying and caring this forward!
